Music is a universal language, and one of the most artistic methods of human expression. There are also countless studies on the positive health effects of learning a musical instrument. For young children, music lessons can help improve learning and motor skills. For adults, playing an instrument has been associated with protection of brain function in older age. We teach classes for a variety of popular musical instruments, but we’d also love to work with you on any instrument of your choice. Commonly Asked Questions About Music Lessons

  • For those just starting their musical journey, we recommend beginning with piano. In addition to being a beautiful instrument, learning piano provides an excellent foundation in music theory, note reading, and more. The benefit for any piano student is that they can apply these skills to many other instruments as well. But most importantly, we are here to help you fall in love with any instrument of your choice.

  • While certain instruments (string, percussion, woodwind) might be better suited to older students, the piano is perfect for students of any age, even as young as 3 and 1/2 years old.

  • Not at all! If learning how to play an instrument is your dream, we're here to help students of any age learn how to play beautiful music.

  • Yes. Our teachers have extensive experience and/or educational backgrounds in their area of specialization. Every teacher is thoroughly vetted and goes through a comprehensive background check, including FBI and Department of Justice clearance.

  • We do our best to match every student with the perfect teacher, but if for any reason it's just not the right fit, we will be more than happy to find an alternative solution. Depending on the situation, this may include finding a new teacher for private lessons, or a different group class.

  • It is natural to expect some challenges when starting any new activity, especially for the first time. With younger students in particular, we may recommend sticking with the instrument for just a while to properly assess if any adjustments can be made from the teacher's approach. We encourage any students/families to bring this matter to their teacher's attention as early as possible. After consulting with their teacher, students are free to switch their instrument if needed.

  • Yes! We have many students who require special learning accommodations, and our dedicated and caring teachers help everyone shine in their classes. Please inform us of any special circumstances during registration.
