How We Teach • Pen & Pencil Sketching Classes

At Sounds of Color Studio our Pen & Pencil Sketching classes focus on traditional drawing and sketching mediums. Small class sizes allow our expert teachers to work hands-on with students while providing tailored instruction based on age and experience level. Students explore creative expression while developing fundamental skills and confidence in a supportive, engaging learning environment.

Students in our Pen & Pencil Sketching classes develop essential drawing and sketching fundamentals such as line quality, shading, tonal values, hatching and cross-hatching, contour drawing, proportion, perspective, composition, observational sketching, and more. Our experienced teachers and extensive library of supplies and resources provide incredible opportunity for creativity.

Group Pen & Pencil Sketching Classes

Fees • Group Class Schedule

Pen & Pencil Sketching Class Fees*

Group: 1 lesson/week • 1 hour • $200/month per student + $400 material fee**

*Private and group class fees include 4 lessons per month. If a month has 5 weeks, there is no additional charge for the fifth class. All class fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.

**Material fees are non-refundable, non-transferable, one-time fees.

Studio Classes

Our inviting studio is every aspiring artist’s dream. Spacious workstations and a wide array of resources and supplies are perfect for all experience levels. You’ll find creativity and inspiration in every corner.

Makeup Lesson Policy

Advance notice prior to missing a lesson is appreciated. Makeup lessons (if applicable) must be scheduled in advance for a day/time mutually convenient for both the student and teacher (no walk-ins). Makeup lessons may not be used in place of a regular class session. Any accrued makeup lessons are forfeited if a student is no longer enrolled at Sounds of Color Studio. No refunds will be provided for any forfeited makeup lessons.

  • Yes. Our teachers have extensive experience and/or educational backgrounds in their area of specialization. Every teacher is thoroughly vetted and goes through a comprehensive background check, including FBI and Department of Justice clearance.

  • We do our best to match every student with the perfect teacher, but if for any reason it's just not the right fit, we will be more than happy to find an alternative solution. Depending on the situation, this may include finding a new teacher for private lessons, or a different group class.

  • Yes! We have many students who require special learning accommodations, and our dedicated and caring teachers help everyone shine in their classes. Please inform us of any special circumstances during registration.
