Skills We Teach • Violin Lessons

Our violin lessons provide students with the proper skills for performance, form and technique.  After an initial assessment, the teacher will determine whether the Suzuki Method, Traditional Method, or a hybrid of both will work best for the student.

The Suzuki Method is self-paced, and incorporates a mix of listening-based learning, often in a group environment, with practice and repetition of fundamental violin skills. Emphasis is placed on the holistic development of the young musician. The Traditional Method focuses more on developing a student’s note-reading ability along with beginner violin techniques. Feel free to ask your teacher for more information about each method.

Commonly Asked Questions About Violin Lessons

  • The earliest we recommend starting violin lessons is 4 years old. This is typically the perfect age where the child's hand size is ready to pick up and learn a junior-sized violin.

  • Yes! Learning how to play the cello can be incredibly rewarding, but it's also a big commitment (and instrument!). Students interested in learning the cello should be sure they are up for the task to transport and store the instrument to/from their homes before making the investment.

  • Not at all! If learning how to play an instrument is your dream, we're here to help students of any age learn how to play beautiful music.

  • Yes. Our teachers have extensive experience and/or educational backgrounds in their area of specialization. Every teacher is thoroughly vetted and goes through a comprehensive background check, including FBI and Department of Justice clearance.

  • We do our best to match every student with the perfect teacher, but if for any reason it's just not the right fit, we will be more than happy to find an alternative solution. Depending on the situation, this may include finding a new teacher for private lessons, or a different group class.

  • It is natural to expect some challenges when starting any new activity, especially for the first time. With younger students in particular, we may recommend sticking with the instrument for just a while to properly assess if any adjustments can be made from the teacher's approach. We encourage any students/families to bring this matter to their teacher's attention as early as possible. After consulting with their teacher, students are free to switch their instrument if needed.

  • Yes! We have many students who require special learning accommodations, and our dedicated and caring teachers help everyone shine in their classes. Please inform us of any special circumstances during registration.
